If you run an online shop and you see WishlessBot in your logs, this page explains what it is.
What it does
Wishless is a wishlist product. When one of our users pastes a link to one of your product pages, our server loads that one page, once, and reads its title, image, description and price so the item shows up in their list with a picture instead of a bare URL. Then we link people back to you.
What it does not do
- It does not crawl. No link-following, no sitemap walking, no discovery: we open the page somebody pointed us at, and afterwards that same page again from time to time, to see whether its price moved.
- It does not copy your pages. We keep the extracted fields. Raw HTML is not retained in production.
- It does not scrape your prices for a price-comparison catalogue.
How to identify it
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; WishlessBot/1.0; +https://wishless.ai/bots)
Who operates it
WishlessBot is operated by STELLIO LTD, 41 DEVONSHIRE STREET, W1G 7AJ, LONDON, United Kingdom. For anything that needs a person rather than a form, write to privacy@wishless.ai or see the Imprint.
Limits we hold
robots.txtis respected.- The pace is counted per page load, and one load means one page: either one a person has just asked us to read, or one look back at a page already sitting in a list. Against a single host WishlessBot starts those loads at least 2 seconds apart and, background price re-checks counted in, holds them to at most 60 per clock hour — the count resets at the top of the hour rather than sliding over the last sixty minutes, so a load at 10:59 and a load at 11:00 fall on either side of that reset. Both figures are what our own counter enforces, and on the rare occasion it cannot be reached a load goes through rather than waiting, so read them as the pace we hold rather than a guarantee riding on every single request. One load can still leave several lines in your log one after another: when your own shop answers with a redirect — apex to www, http to https, a slash added — we follow it, at most 5 hops, and that chain is the same load walking to the page it was sent for, not a fresh one at every step. Some of what reaches you sits outside the count as well, among it the
robots.txtread before a page and the single fetch of a product photo for an item already saved. - Timeouts are short and response bodies are capped, so a slow page costs you one connection, not a held socket.
If you would rather work with us than switch us off
The Partners page says where your product appears inside Wishless, how every outgoing click is attributed, and what we would need from an affiliate programme. Same crawler, same limits — it is written for the person who decides about traffic rather than about servers.
Ask us to stop
Use the opt-out form. Giving an email address on your shop's own domain lets you confirm by link, and WishlessBot then stops at once for that domain and every name ending in it — including when a link on another site redirects to you. A request sent from a different address is decided by hand and opts nothing out by itself. Once your shop is opted out, a link to it pasted into Wishless gets a note to add the item by hand. For a timestamped log of our requests to your host, mention it in the notes field of the form.
